Major road closures begin at Noon in DC…

At the top of the hour several major roads in the District will be closed to traffic until 1am on Monday. The Red Zone parking restrictions cover parts of Independence, Constitution and Pennsylvania Avenues. There is also a Green zone parking area which is out side of the Red zone for residents only. The National Guard will be checking for ID. You can see an image of the map on any of my social media accounts.

Part of Union Station is closed to all traffic today for Trump celebrations….

A part of Union Station is closed ahead of Friday’s Inauguration. The main hall is now block off for upcoming Trump celebrations. It will be closed for pedestrian traffic through Friday morning. Train and bus passengers who need to reach Massachusetts Avenue, NE or the Metro will need to use the western doors, near the outdoor bike racks.

President Obama prepares for his last press conference…

At the White House. President Barack Obama will hold his last press conference as President of the United States. Obama is expected to be asked about Russia and to speak out about the Republicans plan to repeal his Affordable Care Act. The Commander and Chief’s approval rating is at an all-time high of 60%. Two-thirds of those who responded to the CNN/ORC poll say his presidency was a success.

Secret Service settles a 16-year-old discrimination suit with black agents…

A 16-year-old long discrimination lawsuit filed against the Secret Service by African American agents is over. The federal Government has reached a $24 million dollar settlement for the agents who claimed they were passed over for promotions by less qualified white agents. The agency is not admitting fault but Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said he was glad to finally, quote “put this chapter of
Secret Service history behind us”. He said it was the right thing to do.
