Maryland Legislative Session Underway

With a bang of the gavel, Maryland’s legislative session is underway. This is the 438th meeting of the Maryland General Assembly and it is happening during an election year. Issues include medical marijuana, paid sick leave, redistricting and term limits for state lawmakers. State Senate and House of Delegates members will meet for the next 90 days.

Poll Has Baker Ahead In Democratic Gubernatorial Primary

A new survey has Prince George’s County Executive Rushern Baker leading the field of Democrats vying for the party’s nomination in the governor’s race. A Gonzales Poll out this morning shows Baker has the support of 24-percent of voters surveyed. Eight candidates remain in the race after Maya Rockeymoore Cummings ended her campaign last week.

Poll Finds Oprah Would Beat Trump In 2020

A new poll shows Oprah Winfrey would beat President Trump if she ran for the White House. A Rasmussen Reports survey out today gives Winfrey a ten-percent advantage over Trump following her powerful speech at Sunday night’s Golden Globe awards. The poll finds 48 percent of likely voters would back the media mogul compared to 38 percent for Trump. But pollsters note 14 percent were undecided about the hypothetical matchup. Winfrey created a political buzz when she praised women for coming forward with their stories about sexual harassment that have rocked Hollywood.
