Metro’s Green Line Closed for Two Weeks

For the next two weeks, a stretch of the Metro Green Line will be closed, due to crews completing a significant capital improvement project.

The Branch Avenue and Suitland stops will remain closed until Aug. 20. Metro says that the Naylor Road Station will be closed on Aug.12 and 13 and Aug. 19 and 20.

NBC News Washington reports that during the closures, construction crews will totally rebuild a crossover where the trains move from one track to the next. Metro believes that it is more conducive for both tracks to be out of service for this particular project. Other pertinent maintenance work will be completed throughout the closures.

Metro plans to replace the trains at closed stations with shuttle buses. Customers who use Branch Avenue are advised to use the Anacostia or Southern Avenue stations instead.

Metro states that the Green Line will run on a normal schedule outside of the construction area.
