New Bill May Require Donald Trump To Undergo Mental Health Evaluation

On Friday, Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif) proposed a new bill in the House of Representatives that would demand President Donald Trump to take a physical and mental health exam to decide whether he is stable enough to remain in office.

If Trump’s results come back deficient, the bill will make Vice President Mike Pence and members of the Cabinet remove Trump from office.

This bill will conjure the 25th amendment, which is a constitutional arrangement that allows the vice president and majority of Cabinet members to collaboratively remove the president from office and replace him with the vice president.

According to The Huffington Post, Lofgren asked in a statement referencing the new bill “Does the President suffer from early stage dementia”

“Has emotional disorder so impaired the President that he is unable to discharge his duties,” she continued. “Is the President mentally and emotionally stable?”

Lofgren also denoted that President Trump has yet to release a “serious” medical evaluation to the public.

“I certainly think that there’s an issue with the President’s capability,” Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) said on CNN’s “State of the Union” per NY Daily News

“There’s some attribute of his character that makes him seemingly incapable of introspection and a broad understanding of what the country really needs.”

Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) said Trump “has not yet been able to demonstrate the stability nor some of the competence” for a successful presidency, as reported by NY Daily News.

Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) claims that Trump has been “showing signs of erratic behavior and mental instability that place the country in grave danger,” and she asked for him to be removed by utilizing the 25th Amendment, which states a President can be removed if he “is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.”

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif) believes that it is too premature to discuss a 25th Amendment ejection because Congress is “far from concluding” whether Trump is incapable of doing his job.
