Prince George’s County To Consider Property Tax Pre-Payment

An emergency session is scheduled for the Prince George’s County Council tomorrow. The Council will consider of 2018 property taxes.  This is a response to the new tax reform bill signed into law last week by President Trump.  The Montgomery County county council voted 7 to 1 yesterday to allow property tax prepayment the legislation. The bill was an effort to help homeowners pay taxes before caps on deductions take affect next year.

Gunfire Reported In Chinatown

DC Police are continuing their search for a man who opened fire in Washington’s busiest intersection. Officers were called to Chinatown around 8:00 this morning on reports of gunshots. The 600 block of “H” Street, NW was temporarily closed off for investigation, but has since reopened. Officials say surveillance footage shows a man shooting at another person, but a victim has not been found.

Pro-Trump Singer Files Complaint Against Former Trump Campaign Manager

A singer who gained fame as a Trump supporter is accusing former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski of sexual assault. Joy Villa claims Lewandowski slapped her backside while posing for a picture during a party on November 28th. Multiple media reports say she’s now filed a sexual assault complaint with police. She wrote recently on Twitter that Lewandowski slapped her butt once and she told him to stop, but he repeated the act again. She said she was embarrassed and shocked by his behavior.

Report: DOJ Mishandled Sex Harassment Cases

The Justice Department is looking into an Inspector General’s report that found disturbing issues with the department’s handling of its own sexual harassment complaints. NBC News reports 19 allegations of harassment were leveled against the Justice Department between 2012 and 2016. The cases surfaced after a “Washington Post” report found a chief deputy in the U.S. Marshals Service had sex with nine women in his office. A Justice Department spokesman says Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein ordered a working group to look at the issues. The group is expected to release soon its “recommendations for action.”
