Sanders Says Shooting Suspect Was Campaign Volunteer

Senator Bernie Sanders is condemning this morning’s shooting attack on GOP lawmakers “in the strongest possible terms.” The Vermont Democrat also confirms that suspect James Hodgkinson was one of his presidential campaign volunteers last year. The man is identified as James Hodgkinson, a former home inspector from Belleville, Illinois. In remarks today on the Senate floor, Sanders said his “hopes and prayers” are that Congressman Steve Scalise and the congressional staffers and Capitol Police officers who were wounded “make a quick and full recovery.”

Ryan Reacts To Alexandria Shooting

House Speaker Paul Ryan says Republicans and Democrats are coming together as “one family” following this morning’s shooting attack on GOP lawmakers who were practicing for a charity baseball game near Washington, DC. As he opened the House today, Ryan said members are united in shock and anguish and that quote — “An attack on one of us is an attack on all of us.” Ryan drew applause when he announced that tomorrow’s congressional charity baseball game will go on as planned.

Police Searching UPS Building In San Francisco After Shooting

Heavily armed police have their guns drawn as they search a UPS building in San Francisco where a fatal shooting took place this morning. Two people were killed. Two other victims and the gunman are said to be wounded. There are reports that the gunman was wearing a UPS uniform during the shooting and that he’s suffering from a self-inflicted wound. Even though only one attacker has been confirmed, police are searching the facility with the apparent belief that the situation is still ongoing.

Jury Deliberations Resume In Cosby Trial

The jury in Bill Cosby’s sexual assault trial is back at work for a third day in Norristown, Pennsylvania. The panel deliberated for 17 hours yesterday and it isn’t known how close it might be to a verdict. Jurors have asked four times to review testimony from both the comedian and his accuser and have sought clarification on a charge. Jurors were chosen in Pittsburgh, then bused to suburban Philadelphia where they are being sequestered until the trial ends.
