Shootings on F Street, NE, State of Emergency Continues in Ellicott City, Ballot Hearing in Maryland Governor’s Race

Overnight double shooting in Northeast DC

Police are searching for the person or persons responsible for a double shooting overnight in the District.  Police say it happened around midnight in the 16-hundred block of “F” Street, Northeast, near Miner Elementary School. A man and a juvenile the victims. Both expected to survive.

State of Emergency extended in Ellicott City

The State of Maryland has extended the state of emergency for Ellicott City. Showers and thunderstorms capable of heavy rain are expected in Howard County and other parts of Maryland through Saturday. Ellicott City has suffered major flooding following several weeks of heavy rains. All visits to the city’s main street were canceled yesterday because of a flash flood warning.

Ballot request hearing for Maryland gubernatorial candidate 

Valerie Ervin wants her name on the ballot as a Maryland gubernatorial candidate. The State Board of Elections says it will cost too much money to change  ballots so close to the June 26th primaries. Monday, a Maryland judge will decide what should happen. Ervin had been the running mate of Kevin Kamenetz, who sought the governorship.  Kamenetz died three weeks ago from a heart attack and now Ervin says she is wants not the second, but the state’s top spot.
