Tensions Still Rising In Feud Between Congresswoman & White House

The war of words drags on between a Florida congresswoman and the White House. Democratic Congresswoman Frederica Wilson accused Chief of Staff John Kelly of making a racist comment about her when he called her an “empty barrel.” Kelly slammed Wilson for listening in on President Trump’s phone call to the young widow of a fallen soldier. Earlier this week, Wilson spoke out saying Trump disrespected the woman when he said her husband knew what he signed up for. Trump says the Florida Democrat fabricated the claim, and called her “wacky” in a tweet this morning.

McCain Meets With McCain Over Niger Incident

Senator John McCain says he’s starting to get some answers about what happened recently in Niger. Four U.S. soldiers were killed when they were ambushed by a terrorist group affiliated with ISIS. McCain summoned Defense Secretary James Mattis to his office and said there is still much to be learned about the tragedy. The Arizona Republican chairs the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Dusty Baker Out As Nationals Manager

The Washington Nationals are parting ways with manager Dusty Baker. The team announced today that Baker will not return to the team for the 2018 season. Baker’s contract expired at the end of the 2017 season. In his two seasons with the team, Baker led the Nationals to back-to-back division titles. However, the team failed to get out of the National League Division Series in the postseason. The Nationals were 192-and-132 in Baker’s two years in charge.

Joblessness Down In MD

The unemployment rate is down for a fifth straight month in Maryland. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics says the state’s jobless rate dropped one-tenth of a percent in September to three-point-eight percent. The figures show Maryland gained 24-hundred jobs last month. Year-over-year jobs are up by more than 64-thousand or nearly two-and-a-half percent. Nationally, the unemployment rate was four-point-two percent last month.
