News reports on Syrian state media say the U.S. missile attack on a government air base killed seven people, including four children. A local official said nine people were also wounded in the attack. An earlier report from the Syrian army said the U.S. missile strike had killed six and injured seven. The strike was in retaliation for Tuesday’s chemical attack that killed dozens of people in northern Syria.

There’s a mix of praise and criticism from Capitol Hill over the missile attack on Syria. Republican Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham said the reaction to Syria’s deadly chemical attack on its own people deserves the support of the American people. On the other side of the aisle, Maryland Democratic Senator Ben Cardin says the president will need to consult Congress to develop a long-term strategy for Syria.

Some of the damage neighbors will be cleaning up today wasn’t just the result of thunderstorms. The National Weather Service confirms two tornadoes touched down in the area yesterday. The EF-Zero tornadoes touched down in Southeast DC and Herndon. They brought winds up to 70-miles an hour and were on the ground for about a mile before lifting off.
