Trump Repeats Call To NFL Owners Over Anthem Protests

President Trump is repeating a call to NFL owners to punish players who take a knee during the national anthem. Speaking at the White House today, Trump called such protests highly disrespectful to the anthem and the American flag. He was asked about reported comments by former rival Hillary Clinton, supporting the protests by some players. Fox News reports that Clinton said the protests are about against racism and injustice in America.

Prince George County Schools Receive Grant

Schools are receiving one of the largest grants ever awarded to Prince George County. It was announced at Greenbelt Middle School this morning that 24-million dollars will go to 40 local schools over the course of three years. School officials say the “Great Teachers, Great Leaders, Great Schools” grant aims to provide incentives for high-quality teachers and create a more reliable employee systems.

Louisville Fires Hoops Coach Pitino

The University of Louisville is parting ways with men’s basketball coach Rick Pitino. Multiple outlets report the Louisville athletic board voted to terminate Pitino’s contract with just cause. His firing comes nearly three weeks after the school was implicated in a national bribery scandal. Pitino had been coach at Louisville since 2001. He ends his tenure with a 415-and-141 record.
