Two Prince George’s Co. Officers were shot in District Heights…

Two Special Ops Police Officers from the Prince George’s County Police Department are recovering at the hospital this hour. The two were shot last night while serving a search warrant on a drug charge. The men were shot at close range with a shotgun. One was hit in the hand and the other was hit in the shoulder. At last check one officer was listed in serious condition.

The incident happened around 10:30 last night in the 27-hundred block of Lorring Drive. The suspect was taken into custody and so was another suspect found in the apartment.

There are safety questions about the Senior Living Apt fire in S.E. …

More than 100 senior citizens are without a place to call home. This follows yesterday 5 story senior living apartment fire in the 900 block of Fifth Street in S.E. 162 units were destroyed by the rooftop fire that quickly spread to a four-alarm fire. Surprisingly everyone made it out safely. Over 100 Marines who were at the nearby base jumped into action and literally carried some of the elderly out of the building safely.

This morning Fire crews were back out at the site putting out hot spots along Fifth Street. Four people were taken to the hospital and they are expected to be Ok. There are numerous reports that the DC Fire Chief says he will look into that the buildings smoke alarm and sprinkler system didn’t go off or work. A full investigation into the nature of the fire is ongoing.

DC make an arrest in the case of a jogger killed in Logan Circle….

DC Police have made an arrest in the case of a jogger in Logan Circle this week.  A 10:30 press conference to update the public about the break in the case is set for this morning.  Yesterday officials released a few surveillance images of the suspect they believed stabbed and killed the female jogger on Tuesday in Logan Circle. 35-year-old Wendy Martinez stumbled into a Chinese carry out at P and 11th Streets before collapsing and dying outside of the carryout.

Martinez who was an avid jogger regularly jogged in the area. She was a graduate of Georgetown University and just last week she got engaged. The family is devastated by there loss.
