Tyler Perry is producing a new live-action series for Nickelodeon. This makes Perry’s first children’s show.

Starring rising rapper, Young Dylan (Dylan Gilmore), “the series follows a family whose world is turned upside down when their nephew, Young Dylan (Dylan Gilmer), an aspiring hip-hop star, moves in unannounced.” according to Business Wire.

Perry’s partnership with Nickelodeon is part of a deal with ViacomCBS. Under this same partnership, he is producing The Oval and Sistas.

Dylan Gilmer is an aspiring rap star from Annapolis, Maryland. He’s appeared and performed on The Ellen Show and NBA All-Star Weekend.

Perry invited Young Dylan to star in the show in an appearance on The Ellen Show back in October.

“The head of Nickelodeon saw you, called me up, and said ‘did you see him?’ I said ‘yeah, I saw him.’ He said, ‘Let’s write a show for him. Let’s have a whole cast around him and do this whole show.”
Here is the official description according to Variety:
“When Dylan’s grandmother Viola (Aloma Wright) realizes raising her grandson is too much to take on, she decides to send him to live indefinitely with her affluent son Myles Wilson (Carl Anthony Payne II), his wife Yasmine (Mieko Hillman) and their two kids Rebecca (Celina Smith) and Charlie (Hero Hunter).”

The new series premieres Saturdy, February 29 at 8:30 p.m. on Nickelodeon.
