Hello, Mike. I tired to leave you this as a message but it wouldn't work but I wouldn't mind if everyone saw this and maybe you or someone can give me some infomation and advice on what to do about this.
This incident occurred 9/25/2010 at CVS in Gaithersburg Square Shopping Center. Harold Fisher had a similar story on his Monday and Tuesday "Daily Drum" show that occured in PG county with a young man. Do you or anyone know if I could pursue this in court and a lawyer that could represent me? I've e-mail the NAACP of Montgomery County and the ACLU, they told me to write to CVS and file a complaint to the internal affairs of Gaithersburg 6th district police department, I did but didn't hear from internal affairs yet and the District manager of Montgomery county CVS's called and gave me an apology and sent me two $25 gift cards. I appreciate the apology but should I just "let this go"? I'll really appreciate your suggestion and all comments. Thanks. I enter the store to purchase a backpack, while looking at some T-shirts I wanted to purchase along with the backpack I notice a female police officer approaching me. She told me to put my hands on my head and ask me, "What I was doing in the store", also stated, "The manager seen me put something in my bag and seen me in the store stealing before". I said, "There's no proof of that", and she said, "She wanted to check my belonging's", I told her, "I put my CD player in my bag", during this time a male officer approached the scene and said, "That there's been alot of stealing going on in this store that's why they're checking me", I said, "I didn't do anything wrong". The female officer checked my backpack and didn't find any of CVS's property in my bag so she said, "The manager want's me out of the store and is denying me service", I asked them, "why" and wanted an explaination but they said, "I was causing a scene and wanted me out of the store". I asked them, "Can I speak to the manager" and they said, "No". As the police escorted me out of the store the female cop started grabbing me and pushing me, I asked her, "Why does she have to grab and push me", she said, "I'm making a scene and to get out the store". When we got outside the store they told me to sit down on a brick flower structure and put my hands on it. I was trying to get an explaination for what was taking place but instead I was getting threaten to be tasered and arrested, during this time I was also asked "If I had any money? and "Why I'm I in the store if I don't have any money"? and "Why I'm I shopping in this area if I'm not from this area, why don't I shop where I live"? and "If I've been arrested before"?, then the male officer said, "I'm an ass". I was highly upset and stated, "I don't appreciate the way they're talking to me and if they wanted me to have a different response and attitude towards them don't disrespect me". They asked for my ID then I was issued a Trespass Notification Form stating, "Theft from store and Trespassing". I also was told by the cops not to come back to the store. I left the scene and went to my bank which is located in the same shopping center, talked on my phone for awhile then made my way to another store a couple of store's down from CVS but before I went into the store I needed to charge my phone, so I went to plug the phone in an outlet in a wall next to CVS and the police pulled up again and said, "What I'm doing over here", "I told them I was going to charge my phone and go into the other store", they said, "That they didn't want me near the store and that when I was walking by them in the parking lot I was taunting them", I said, "I can't smile, is that against the law to"? That's when I was issued another Trespass Notification Form stating, "I was disorderly, attempted theft, and trespassing". Then they said, "I was barred from the entire Gaithersburg Shopping Center and if I come back there I'll be arrested", I said, "ok" and left. I didn't sign any of the forms but I do have copy's of them. It's unfortunate that this exist in your police force, I know every cop is not a "Bad cop" but with this type of behavior it cause's me to change my view on this police force.
