Portis Surrenders To Federal Authorities In Fraud Indictment

(Washington, DC) — Former Washington Redskins running back Clinton Portis has reportedly surrendered to federal authorities in North Carolina. This comes as Portis is named in an indictment by the Justice Department that accuses ten former NFL players of defrauding the league’s health care program. Portis is charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and health care fraud, as well as one count of wire fraud and health care fraud. The health care program was defrauded of more than three-million dollars. Other former Redskins players named in the indictment include Carlos Rogers, Robert McCune and John Eubanks.
