Police looking for suspects after man was assaulted.

(Washington, DC) — DC Police are investigating after a homeless man was deliberately set on fire yesterday morning. Authorities responded to Mount Pleasant Street near 16th Street Northwest and found the man suffering from burns to his lower extremities. A clerk at a nearby 7-Eleven grabbed a fire extinguisher and put the fire out. Terry Lynch with the Downtown Cluster of Congregations says there needs to be an increase in police presence in the area and more access to mental health assistance. Anyone with information on who may have set the man on fire is being urged to contact the Metropolitan police with more details.
