Residents Call For Cameras On Busy Road

Residents in the Fairview community in Bowie want cameras on Church road. A teenager was struck and killed while crossing the road in Fairview this past summer.

The Fairwood Community Association is pushing for a speed camera on Church Road in Fairview. 14-year-old fatally Kamal Nashid was struck and killed last summer as he tried to cross an intersection at Church Road while jogging.  Maryland law currently doesn’t allow speed cameras on the road. The community is lobbying the Prince George’s delegation in Annapolis to pass a bill making an exception.
