DC Maternal & Infant Health Summit

DC has the dubious distinction of having one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the country with District mothers twice as likely to die because of pregnancy than the average American woman.  Earlier this year, the mayor signed off on legislation to form a commission to look at the issue.  Next week Mayor Muriel Bowser is convening a Summit to discuss best infant and maternal health practices to help bring the numbers down.
