Weekend Haps Update:

 

  • Johnathan Butler is at Blues Alley tonight through Sunday for two shows each night, 8 & 10pm.

 

  • At the Howard Theatre you can check out the legendary George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic Friday night show time is 8pm. Then on Saturday it’s a tribute to Dick Gregory, featuring Paul Mooney and Marsha Warfield for two shows 7:30 and 10:30.

 

  • The Birchmere presents Oleta Adams this Sunday for a 7:30 performance.

 

  • The stage play “Intimate Apparel” is at the Everyman Theater in Baltimore, running through November 19th. For ticket information go here:

 

  • The 3rd Annual SteamFEST is Saturday, October 4th from 11am to 2pm at the Showplace Arena, 14900 Pennsylvania Ave. Upper Marlboro, MD. 20772. Teens and kids will experience a day of interactive hands-on workshops related to science, technology, engineering, arts and math.  The festival will feature over 80 STEAM related activities and demonstrations.  For more information go here:

 

Experience African art from a new perspective in this expansive exhibition that comes to the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art on Nov. 4. More than 300 works of art will be featured across seven rooms, with each room representing a different viewpoint on the pieces within. Technique, context and creative expression will all be considered, as Visionary frames the museum’s extensive collection of sculptures, paintings, photographs, ceramics and video in a whole new way. The exhibit is open indefinitely. 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. |  Free admission   Smithsonian National Museum of African Art, 950 Independence Avenue SW, Washington, DC 20560
