Fighting Kidney Disease

The DC area has the dubious distinction of having the highest number of incidents of kidney disease in the country.  The GW Kidney Center is working to turn those figures around and coming up this weekend they are hosting a kidney awareness event.  I have Dr. Joseph Keith Melancon with me to talk about the issue and what needs to be done to address kidney disease in the DMV.

Join WHUR and the GW Ron and Joy Paul Kidney Center Saturday, June 3rd from 10am to 1pm for free blood pressure screenings at the safeway at 3830 Georgia Ave, NW.  Uncontrolled high blood pressure is the second leading cause of kidney failure. Stop by and sign up for an appointment for a free kidney screening during the month of June.  For details, log on to whur.com.

Tune in to Taking it to the Streets, weekdays at 6:15am, 7:08am and 8:35am on the Steve Harvey Morning Show on 96.3 WHUR.
