Harriet Tubman Day Celebration

We are focusing on Howard County this morning where a big event is coming up this weekend to highlight the life and work of Abolitionist Harriet Tubman.  It’s the 8th Annual Harriet Tubman Day Celebration.  Joining me this morning with the 411 on this affair is Rev. Douglas Sands – Vice President of the Harriet Tubman Foundation.

The 8th Annual Harriet Tubman Day celebration is Saturday, September 16th from 11am – 5pm at the former Harriet Tubman Jr.-Sr. High School.  The event is designed to celebrate the history and the legacy of the only African-American High School in Howard County and move forward toward transforming the historical building into an African-American cultural and education center.  This year’s event will include cultural performances from our diverse racial and religious communities, as well as food, music, fun, family, community, and history will be the center of attention.

Tune in to Taking it to the Streets, weekday mornings at 6:15, 7:08 and 8:35 on the Steve Harvey Morning Show on 96.3 WHUR.
