It’s Going To Be Hot and Exciting in The DMV This Weekend

  • The 2017 Summer Spirit Festival is this weekend at the Merriweather Post Pavilion, featuring Kenny “Babyface” Edmunds, Fantasia, Common, Bell Biv DeVoe, SWV and more. Join the WHUR staff all day Saturday for the biggest event of the summer.  Doors open at 1 and the shows kick off at 2pm.

 

  • On Saturday, we here at WHUR are teaming up with FedEx and Briar Patch Shredding and Recycling to host a back to school supply drive and shredding event. It takes place at the Bowie Town Center Saturday from 9am- 12noon.  More details at whur.com

  • Citi Open:
    Rock Creek Park Tennis Center plays host to this DC summer sporting tradition, now in its 48th year. International tennis stars will battle in front of thousands of fans during the week-long tournament. As always, the lineup features talent from all over the world, including Juan Martin del Potro, Gael Monfils and John Isner in the men’s field and Eugenie Bouchard and Monica Puig in the women’s field. Make sure to check the tournament’s websitefor event, ticket and lineup updates. You can also take advantage of ticket discounts for certain sessions. The tournament continues through Aug. 6.
