Today on Taking it to the Streets, we are going to help you plan out your weekend. Here are some events and activities for the entire family to enjoy.

This weekend is Howard University’s Homecoming 2014 and this year’s theme is  “Crown.” With this royal theme it is only right that you come join us at the Homecoming Parade and the showcase of bands this Saturday on the campus on Howard University.  Super Model Tyson Beckford is this years grand Marshall along with parade Marshall’s Actor Lance Gross, Olympian David Oliver and WHUR’s own Frank Ski.  Lamman Rucker will be the celebrity judge along with Triscinia Grey and Troy Johnson. The big Football game has the Howard Bison taking on  the Florida A&M Rattlers.   Now on Sunday at Cramton Auditorium,  Jacquie Gales Webb along with Kirk Franklin will  be your host of the  Gospel Show. The performers this year will be “We Live As Kings”, “Tasha Cobbs” and “Tye Tribbett”.  Visit for all Howard University Homecoming information.

The Prince George’s County States Attorney’s office is hosting this 5k run/walk/roll, called “Family Strong 5k Challenge.” It’s happening on Saturday, October 18, 2014, at 9am at the Paint Branch Park Trail, located at 5211 Paint Branch Pkwy in College Park, MD.
