This Morning on Taking it to the Streets

This morning on Taking it to the Streets is a list of some events and activities for the entire family to enjoy.

Today D.C. kicks off the celebration of the 153rd Anniversary of D.C. Emancipation Day with the Annual Parade and Concert at Freedom Plaza. The Parade will start at 11am beginning at 4th and Pennsylvania and proceeds up to Freedom Plaza. Now at 4:30 the DC Emancipation Day Concert will kick off at Freedom Plaza and this years line-up includes Eric Benet, Doug E. Fresh, Familiar Faces, Black Alley Band, Mali Music, Maysa and Raheem DeVaughn and this is followed by the Fireworks Finale over Freedom Plaza beginning at 8:45. Now all these events are free and open to the public so make sure you check them out have a great time.

Tomorrow, Alice Smith will be at the Howard Theatre,  so if you’re looking to hear some great music, come check her out. Doors open at 6pm and the show starts at 8pm.

Also, tomorrow, Rare Essence along with DJ Kool and Trouble Funk will be at The Fillmore in Sliver Spring, for a night a classic Go-Go. The show starts at 9pm

And then finally, on Saturday, Spyro Gyra will be at “Rams Head On Stage”, in Annapolis, doors open at 7:30pm and show starts at 8:30.
