“Taking it to the Streets Weekend Haps”

Thursday Sept. 4th – Sunday Sept. 7th    

Today we are going to help you plan out your weekend. Here are some events and activities for the entire family to enjoy.

  • Tonight you can join Walter Beasley as he starts his three-night stand at Blues Alley. From now to Saturday he will have two shows a night one at 8pm and one at 10pm.
  • Friday night gospel singing group Mary Mary will be at the Howard Theater for two shows on at 7:30 and another at 10.
  • Also at the Howard Theater comedian Charlie Murphy will be at their Saturday and Sunday with shows at 7:30 and 9:30.
  • On Saturday, the DC Office on Aging  invites families to attend its “2014 Generations Community Festival called, “Celebration of Life.” This event will take place on Saturday, September 6th from 10am to 4 pm at Gateway Pavillion, DC, located at 2700 Martin Luther King Jr. SE, Washington DC.  For more information log onto dcoa.dc.gov.
  • “Step Afrika” will continue to bring the excitement and energy of stepping to our DC parks and recreation centers, by hosting their free “Step Afrika! Step Explosion.”  September 6th at 2pm at the Raymond Recreation Center. Log onto www.stepafrica.com for more information.
  • The 11th Annual Sliver Spring Jazz Festival will be this Saturday from 3:30pm to 10:30pm at the Silver Spring Civic Building at Veterans Plaza. This festival feature Marcus Johnson, Elliott Levine, The David Bach Consort and the Jazz Academy of Music
