This morning on Taking it to the Streets

Today we are going to help you plan out your  weekend. Here are some events and activities for the entire family to enjoy.

  • Saturday you can spend you day with us. Come out to the AT&T Nations Football Classic for the Battle in the Capital at RKF Stadium. It all kicks off with the Pepsi Fan Festival at 11am in lot 8 at RKF.  There will be entertainment and the WHUR Promotions staff will be out with UTZ chips and Dunkin Donut cups so look for them when you get there. Than at 3:30 the Morehouse College Maroon Tigers will face the Howard University Bison and see who is the better team.
  • Later on Saturday night come out and have a few laughs Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club with Joe Clair and Friends.  This weeks line up features the hilarious Tony Roberts and DC’s own Eddie Bryant.  There will be two shows one at 7:30 and another at 10:00pm.
  • Acclaimed motivational speaker, author, and talented artist, Derek “Fonzworth Bentley” Watkins will head a superstar lineup of artist to include multi-faceted violinist, teacher and arranger Chelsey Green, and US based poet/MC, youth mentor Messiah Ramkissoon for the official launch of Wise Gentleman, an innovative mentoring program for  young adult males between the ages of  13 to 21.  The event will take place at Howard University School of Medicine, 520 W. Street NW Washington, D.C. on Saturday September 13, 2013, from 11:30am-2:30pm.
  • Sunday, The Bounce TV Summer Music Festival will be at the Verizon Center. This year’s line up stars,  Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, Patti LaBelle and special guest Ruben Studdard.

 

The “Taking it to the Streets Weekend Haps” with Bobby Gailes, runs every Thursday morning at 6:47am,  7:13am  and at 8:13am on the Steve Harvey morning show.
