Howard Homecoming 2017 Was Definitely LIT! #HU #YouKnow

Howard University celebrated its 150th anniversary and hands down, homecoming was LIT! I mean, did you expect anything else?

Sunday, October 15 Miss and Mr. Howard University were crowned during the Royal Court Coronation. Congratulations to Victoria Grimes and Isaiah Reed!

The following day, the Homecoming Kickoff Rally hyped all the students and staff up, preparing for a week of fun, excitement, tradition and their love for the illustrious Howard University.

For the first time ever, YouTube and Howard partnered up for the #YouTubeBlack FanFest featuring 14 YouTube stars with over 15 millions subscribers as they celebrated the Black creator community.The event was packed and was definitely a good look for the University.

The Third Annual LGBTQ+ Renaissance Reception honors HU undergrads who create awareness of LGBTQ+ issues, encourage engagement, and are committed to activism.

“Pulse” was the theme of the students’ annual homecoming fashion show. Students stunned the crowd as they showed off their creations.

Howard University President President Wayne A.I. Frederick delivered a presentation on “Metrics That Matter” including updates on University’s financial condition, Howard University Hospital, enrollment, academic rigor, and strategy. The University is on its way to major progression and innovation. Don’t believe us, just watch. WATCH it here.

Friday was YardFest. This year’s lineup included Wale, Rick Ross, Tory Lanez, Doug E. Fresh, Kid Capri and Machel Montano. Now tell us this wasn’t LIT!

The District’s Mayor Muriel Bowser deemed October 21 Howard University Day! What an honor. Thank you Mayor.

 

DST and the AKAs took home the top spots in the Annual Greek Step Show. The event was hosted by Terrence J.

Lala Anthony served as this year’s Grand Marshall at the Howard Homecoming Parade.

Howard President Wayne A. I. Frederick said it best when he said “Howard Homecoming is THE Black Coachella!”

And as far at the Homecoming Football Game is concerned, well…. Need I say more? HOW ‘BOUT DEM BISON!

Lil Kim closed out this EPIC homecoming with a crazy performance at the Howard Theater. The original Queen B did her thang!
