ABC announced Wednesday the network will air a ‘Roseanne’ spinoff minus Roseanne Barr to replace the cancelled reboot.

According to the Huffington Post, the project tentatively being called, ‘The Connors,’ was green-lit just weeks after they cancelled the show. ABC says, “The Conners’ stories demonstrate that families can always find common ground through conversation, laughter and love,” ABC said in a statement. “The spinoff will continue to portray contemporary issues that are as relevant today as they were 30 years ago.”

ABC cancelled the show after Barr made comments about Valerie Jarrett, Obama’s former aide, claiming she was a mix of “Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes.”

All of the other lead actors will return in the spin off (Laurie Metcalf, John Goodman,Lecy Goranson, Michael Fishman and Sara Gilbert). The group released a joint statement Thursday without referencing the loss of Barr from the show

“We have received a tremendous amount of support from fans of our show, and it’s clear that these characters not only have a place in our hearts, but in the hearts and homes of our audience,” the actors said. “We all came back last season because we wanted to tell stories about the challenges facing a working-class family today. We are so happy to have the opportunity to return with the cast and crew to continue to share those stories through love and laughter.”

The show will premier in the fall and air Tuesdays at 8 p.m. Eastern
