Beyonce Announces Formation Scholars Award for Young Women

In honor of the one-year anniversary of her Lemonade album, Beyonce announced the a scholarship program geared towards young women to follow their passions and dreams through education. The scholarship program is called Formation Scholars.

Four scholarships will be awarded in the 2017-2018 school year, allowing students to pursue and focus their ambitions in the arts and humanities. “To encourage and support young women who are unafraid to think outside the box and are bold, creative, conscious, and confident,” are the many criteria the icon is looking for in a scholar.

Michelle Obama took to twitter to praise Bey for giving back. She tweeted “Always inspired by your powerful contributions Beyonce. You are a role model for us all. Thank you for investing in our girls.”

Berklee College of Music, Howard University, Parsons School of Design, and Spelman College are participating in the program.
