Former Disney Channel singer and actress, Demi Lovato is now awake and stable after suffering an apparent narcotics overdose in her home yesterday.

According to her rep’s statement obtained by Deadline:

“Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support,” Lovato’s rep said. “Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now.”

TMZ first reported the singer was in the hospital yesterday due to a heroine overdose. However, her reps say that was not the case. While she did overdose on opioids, it’s still unclear the specific drug she was using.

Lovato has been a victim of substance abuse for years. The singer opened up in an interview with Dr. Phil about her past alcohol and drug abuse- even admitting at one point she was staying in a sober living home to help get clean. She had been 6 years sober from alcohol, cocaine and Oxycontin.

She opened up recently about her sobriety and mentions that she recently fell off the wagon in her new song, “Sober”.

Mama, I’m so sorry I’m not sober anymore / And daddy please forgive me for the drinks spilled on the floor,” she sang on the heartbreaking piano ballad. “And I’m sorry for the fans I lost who watched me fall again / I wanna be a role model, but I’m only human.

From the time news broke of her hospitalization, many fans and friends of the singer sent her well wishes. Ellen DeGeneres, Missy Elliot, Brad Paisley, and many others flooded their timelines to send kind messages to Lovato during this tough time.
