She’s a true gem on and off the screen.

Grey’s Anatomy‘s leading lady, Ellen Pompeo has no problem advocating for major issues for women like gender parity in the entertainment industry.

At a roundtable discussion for Net-A-Porter Magazine’s annual “Women in Television” issue, Pompeo called out the publication for its lack of diversity.

“This day has been incredible, there’s a ton of women in the room, but I don’t see enough color. And I didn’t see enough color when I walk in the room today,” stated Pompeo.

Pompeo was one of the four actress apart of this panel discussion. Others included Gabrielle Union, Emma Roberts and Gina Rodriquez.

Pompeo then opens up about a meeting with a director about being more inclusive.

“I had a meeting with a director of another endorsement project that I’m doing where I said, ‘You know, when I show up on set, I would like to see the crew look like the world that I walk around in everyday,” she continued

Pompeo realizes her influence and privilege as a white woman in the industry and challenges those who have privilege as well to speak up for more diversity in the workplace.
