Former NFL Player And Wife Killed By Teenage Son

Former NFL player Antonio Armstrong and wife Dawn were shot and killed in their home Friday, allegedly by their 16-year-old son. Dawn was found dead at the scene and her husband Antonio was pronounced dead a little later at the hospital.

Antonio Armstrong, 42, and his wife, Dawn Armstrong were fatally shot by their teenage son in the family’s Houston,Texas home early Friday, July 29, 2016. Dawn was found deceased in the bedroom after their 16-year-old son dialed 911 around 1:30 a.m. Antonio was in critical condition and he has since passed away. Sources told reporters that police found the gun with a note next to it that said, “I’ve been watching you." Police arrested the 16-year-old boy, and he will likely to be charged as an adult. Family members are shocked and say this doesn't make sense. There say Antonio and Dawn were loving, involved parents. The couple have another son aged 20 years old and a teenage daughter who was in the home at the time of the shooting but was unharmed. Antonio played one season with the Miami Dolphins in 1995 after being a linebacker for the Texas A&M Aggies. He was named an All-American his senior season with 62 tackles, 9.5 sacks and 18 tackles for loss. He also coached the Southwest Football League for a decade. Antonio and Dawn own a fitness company called 1st Class Training with three locations in the Houston area. He was known for advocating health and fitness. He was also a motivational speaker, posting videos on YouTube. Investigators were working Friday to figure out what may have led to the shooting because there was no sign of tension within the family. An investigator told reporters that, "this was an outstanding family." Dawn celebrated their family and their love for one another in her last Facebook post on Sunday, with a picture of her husband and the caption, "This guy is my everything…..he is all that and some to me,” she wrote. Our sympathies to Dawn and Antonio's son and daughter and to their loved ones and friends. They seemed like such a wonderful couple and to know their lives were taken away by their own child is heartbreaking. Rest in love, together forever, Antonio and Dawn. ✨ #antonioarmstrong #dawnarmstrong #rip #gonebutnotforgotten #instamemorials #texasaggies #gonebutneverforgotten #restinparadise #resteasy #restinpeace #stoptheviolence #putthegunsdown

First responders arrived after a 911 call made by their 16-year-old son. The Armstrongs’ other two childern were home at the time of the shooting. Family and friends are shocked by the incident, saying the shooting was inconceivable. “There was nothing left out. There was no neglect or anything, nothing that could even possibly justify the situation,” Dawn Armstrong’s cousin, Vaun Lee, told Houston’s ABC 13.

Antonio Armstrong briefly played for the Miami Dolphins. The family was very active in their community and ran a gym. The 16-year-old shooter was charged with murder and is currently in police custody.

Our prayers are with the family and friends of Antonio and Dawn Armstrong. May they rest in peace.
