According to sources close to Fox News, the media company is preparing to cut ties with Bill O’Reilly. An Apr 1 article in the New York Times detailed over $13 million in settlements paid out to five women who worked with the host. A decision could be made within the next couple of days. O’Reilly has not returned to his how since Apr 11 after announcing he’s taking a vacation.
Originally Fox stood by O’Reilly but when advertisers fled his show, they began to reconsider. O’Reilly denied any wrongdoing, saying settlements were paid out to ‘put to rest any controversies to spare my children.’
O’Reilly’s show draws over $4 million viewers a night but the controversy did not affect the ratings.
