Issa Rae and Mary J. Blige Among 2018 Golden Globe Nominees

The 75th Golden Globe nominations were announced Monday and we’re ecstatic to learn our girls Issa Rae and Mary J. Blige both snagged nominations.

Mary J. Blige picked up two nominations including Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture and Best Original Song for “Mighty River” with Raphael Saadiq — both from her role in Dee Rees’ film Mudbound.

This was a first for writer Issa Rae. She was nominated for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Television Series for HBO’s Insecure.

Octavia Spencer also scored a Best Supporting Actress nomination for her role The Shape of Water.

Denzel Washington received a nomination for Best Performance in a Motion Picture for his role in Roman J. Israel, Esq.

Anthony Anderson was also nominated for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy for his role on ABC’s black-ish.

Jordan Peele‘s Get Out pulled in two nominations including Best Motion Picture in a Musical or Comedy and Best Performance for Daniel Kaluuya‘s role in the movie.

Sterling K. Brown received a nod for Best Actor in a Television Drama for his role in This Is Us.

The 75th Annual Golden Globes will air on NBC Sunday, January 7, 2018, at 8PM ET.
