Lebron James’ New I Promise School Guarantees College Tuition To All Grads & More

Lebron James is a CHAMP both on and off the court. The LA Laker opened the I Promise School in his hometown of Akron, OH Monday. The I Promise School is supported by the The LeBron James Family Foundation and is run by the Akron Public Schools.

What’s most astonishing about this school is that the students will receive free tuition, free uniforms, a bike and helmet, complimentary transportation within two miles. free meals, a food pantry for families, GED and job placement services for parents and guaranteed tuition to the University of Akron for all graduates.

The I Promise School, which is part of the Akron Public Schools, opens Monday for 240 third- and fourth-graders. The school will expand year by year, going to second and fifth grades next year until it is grades 1-8 by 2022.

“We are going to be that groundbreaking school that will be a nationally recognized model for urban and public school excellence,” I Promise principal and Akron native Brandi Davis told USA Today. “We are letting people know it is about true wrap-around support, true family integration and true compassion.”

The NBA superstar says this accomplishment is by far one of his absolute proudest moments of all time. He equipped this institution for learning with what he did not have when he was in school at that age.

Now THIS is what you call giving back to your community. Great job King James and more importantly, thanks for fulfilling your promise to our future!
