Christopher Barry, son of former DC Mayor Marion Barry, is dead at the age of 36. According to police reports Barry overdosed on drugs early Sunday morning. Witnesses told police that around 12 a.m. Barry went outside to smoke K-2 and PCP when he started acting erratically and then collapsed. Barry was found unresponsive and shortly after pronounced dead at George Washington University Hospital.

Barry’s mother Effi Barry died from Leukemia in 2007. Marion Barry passed in 2014. Cora Masters Barry confirmed her stepson’s death and issued a statement. “Christopher’s sudden death has been devastating…My heart is broken. I am in shock.”

Like his father, Christopher Barry battled drug addiction for quite some time. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Barry family during this difficult time.
