Michelle Obama Graces The Cover Of Essence

Our Forever FLOTUS Michelle Obama is gracing the latest issue of Essence!

In the article, Michelle Obama reveals how she balances her career and family, her happiest days in the White House, and gives advice for all ladies out there on how to find there own Barack Obama.

“From our very first conversations, he showed me that he wasn’t afraid to express his fears and doubts, or that he might not have all the answers,” she exclaimed.

“Just as important, I saw who he was not only in the way he treated me but in the way he interacted with others outside of our relationship. He showed me that he respected women by the way he treated his mother, his sisters, and his grandmother.”

She went on to describe how a lot of people have no idea what they’re looking for in a partner and tend to focus on the material side of a relationship rather than a partner who is “a fully formed individual.”


Along with the tea she dished out on how to find that perfect someone, the former First Lady also talked about her newly published book.

She stated that after their departure from the White House she’s spent majority of her time focusing on finishing the book.

The book entitled, Becoming, is all about Obama’s personal experiences, going all the way back to her roots and being raised on the south side of Chicago, and how she came to find her voice. Becoming also talks about her time in the White House and how she balances her career and motherhood.0

“The book tour will keep me busy for a while, and then I’ll take some time to evaluate what’s next. I’m in no hurry. What I know is that public service is in my DNA, so I’m planning to find ways to keep being useful…”

From Oprah, to the Today show, to Ellen, and even The Real, Obama has been a graceful force opening up about her book in tell all interviews.


Michelle Obama, an African American woman born on the south side of Chicago, a lawyer, a mother, a former First Lady, an author, an activist, and a bold example of what it means to be amazing inside and out.
