New ‘A Different World’-Style Show In The Works

Black-ish star Yara Shahidi just got the green light for an A Different World-style spinoff show that would follow the Johnsons’ oldest daughter, Zoey, as she heads off to college.

The new ABC show, Deadline, has the same premise as the Cosby Show spinoff that focused on Denise Huxtable (Lisa Bonet) leaving home to study at a fictional HBCU. Bonet left the show after the first season, paving the way for Jasmine Guy’s spoiled Whitley Gilbert and Kadeem Hardison’s Dwayne Wayne to shine as stars on the show.
