Taraji P. Henson to Host 2017 BLACK GIRLS ROCK!

We cannot get enough of our Taraji! BET announced Taraji P. Henson as the host of BLACK GIRLS ROCK 2017! awards, which will air August 20, 2017.

BLACK GIRLS ROCK! is an annual award show created by Beverly Bond to empower women. Every year BET and BLACK GIRLS ROCK! honor black women who continue to break barriers in the areas of art, business, and community service.

According to BET viewers can also expect a few of their favorite women in entertainment to be honored as well, such as Insecure writer and director Issa Rae, actress Yara Shahidi, and singer-songwriter Roberta Flack.

Taraji P. Henson was the recipient of BLACK GIRLS ROCK!’s Star Power Award in 2011, giving an emotional speech about following her dreams and working to raise her son.

Henson proudly states that she is excited about being this year’s host, posting to Instagram β€œI love the message and I love Beverly Bond and her vision. I was lucky to be honored in 2011. It is truly a highlight of my life.”
