Toni Braxton Hospitalized Due To Complications With Lupus

Toni Braxton_AP ImagesSinger Toni Braxton was hospitalized in Atlanta for 4 days due to complications with lupus. Braxton announced her battle with lupus in 2010. Lupus is an autoimmune disease that causes the body’s immune system to attack its own tissue and organs.

A rep for the singer confirms Braxton is currently at home resting. The singer’s boyfriend, rapper Birdman, boarded a flight to Atlanta to be by the singer’s side.

“She was not in serious condition, though Lupus is a serious disease and must be monitored at all times,” the rep said.

In 2012, the singer talked to The Huffington Post about what it’s like to live with lupus.

“Pretty much when you have lupus, you feel like you have the flu every day. But some days you get through it. But for me, if I’m not feeling well, I tend to tell my kids, ‘Oh, mommy’s just going to relax in bed today.’ I kind of take it easy.”

We will continue to keep Toni Braxton in our prayers. Get well soon!
