The actor and playwright revealed in an interview on SiriusXM yesterday that he will be saying goodbye to Madea in 2019.

He continued to speak upon why he’s getting rid of his famous character that many people have grown to love.

“I just don’t want to be her age playing her.”

According to Essence, Perry plans on having Madea make her final appearance in an upcoming film, Tyler Perry’s  Madea Family Funeral, set to hit the big screen in March.

The film will be the eighth Madea film and the 11th film where the character has appeared. Along with the final film, Perry plans to have a farewell stage play tour.

Since the birth of Madea and her franchise, Perry has earned a total of $502 million at the box office and as reported by the Source, the last film Madea was featured in earned him a total of $48.3 million worldwide.

Just last year Perry mentioned the success he has had with the character and how much joy playing her has been.
