Vice President Joe Biden To Visit Howard University Today To Host Cancer Summit

Vice President Joe Biden is casting a light on cancer research right here on the campus of Howard University today. Comedian Carol Burnett is scheduled to introduce Biden at the daylong event. Burnett’s daughter also died of cancer. A number of similar events are scheduled across the country today.

Vice President Joe Biden
Biden’s son, former Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, died last year of brain cancer. The Vice President announced he would not run for president so that he could commit to cancer research and advocacy.

Biden’s goal is to have government more involved with cancer research but unfortunately his campaign has faced significant hurdles. President Obama has asked Congress to fund $1 billion over two years for research but only a fraction of that amount has been approved.
