“Bad Boys” Movie Set To Return But To TV

Rumor has it that the Bad Boys movie franchise is getting a spinoff TV series centered round Gabrielle Union‘s character. There is no word on if co-stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will also appear in the TV series although the guys have confirmed the return of the franchise in interviews in recent years. Apparently execs are remaining tight-lipped about this project.

Deadline is reporting:

The untitled Bad Boys spinoff is being written by The Blacklist writers-producers Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier. Union’s Special Agent Sydney “Syd” Burnett, introduced in the sequel Bad Boys II, is the sister of Detective Lieutenant Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) who was romantically involved with Marcus’ partner, Detective Lieutenant Mike Lowrey (Will Smith). She is an undercover operative with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

It was recently announced that Gabrielle Union’s hit series on BET Being Mary Jane is set to end next year in a two-hour finale.

In an interview on Steve Harvey‘s daytime talk show with Martin Lawrence, the comedic legend said he would be thrilled to participate in a return of Bad Boys. We hope Martin and Will will join Gabrielle in the return. It just won’t be the same without them.
