DC’s Homicide Rate Is At 118, It’s Sentencing Day For Bill Cosby

DC’s homicide rate is at 118 …

The District of Columbia homicide rate is now at 118. It has surpassed last year’s total of 116. This morning a man shot and killed at a Shell Gas Station on Eastern Avenue in Northeast added to the total. There have been 9 homicides in Northeast in four days. Three people were killed yesterday alone. The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to an arrest in any of the unsolved cases.

It’s sentencing day for Bill Cosby …

We will soon find out if disgraced Comedian Bill Cosby will be sentenced to jail on a conviction of sexually assaulting a Temple University staffer at his home in 2004. Despite early reports Cosby now faces up to 10 years in prison instead of 30 years for drugging and sexually assaulting a woman at his home in Pennsylvania. The 81 year old entertainer who is now reportedly almost completely blind will learn today his punishment for the crime.

The prosecution is asking for 5 to 10 years in prison because they say he had shown no remorse. The defense is asking for house arrest or probation because of his age and his failing health. Monday his victim Andrea Constand delivered an emotional testimony and said that he should be given the punishment that the courts deem he should get. She also read a very long victim-impact statement.
