Election Polls Start To Close At 6 PM Eastern

Voters across the US are anxious to see the results in national, state and local races. Results won’t start rolling in until after the first places begin to close at 6 p.m. Eastern. Kentucky and Indiana will be among the first states to report results, and could set the tone for the rest of the night. Analysts say returns in a pair of US House races featuring Democratic challengers trying to unseat Republicans may signal whether or not there’ll be a blue or red wave.

Long Lines And Technical Problems In Georgia

Long lines and malfunctioning machines marred the first hours of voting in some precincts across the U.S.  Some of the biggest problems Tuesday were in Georgia, a state with a hotly contested gubernatorial election. Voters reported waiting up to three hours to vote. At a polling place in Snellville, Georgia, more than 100 people took turns sitting in children’s chairs and on the floor as they waited in line for hours. Voter Ontaria Woods said about two dozen people who had come to vote left because of the lines. At a poll site in Atlanta, voters waited in the rain in long lines that stretched around the building.Hannah Ackermann said officials at the polling site offered various explanations for the delay, including blaming workers who didn’t show up and overloaded machines.

Noose Found In AACo School Bathroom

(Pasadena, MD) — Anne Arundel County school officials are investigating an incident involving a noose found hanging in a school bathroom. The noose was made of toilet paper and was found hanging in a stall in a boys’ bathroom at Chesapeake Bay Middle School. Officials say they believe they have identified the person responsible and disciplinary actions will be taken. The incident comes a little more than a week after the words “Kill all Blacks” was found scrawled on a piece of paper students use to sign in and out of counseling sessions at Chesapeake High School.

Three Washington Starters Have Football Season-Ending Surgery

(Ashburn, VA) — Three starters for Washington’s pro football team are done for the season after getting hurt on Sunday. Guards Brandon Scherff and Shawn Lauvao, and wide receiver Paul Richardson will all have season-ending surgery. Scherff tore his left pec. Lauvao tore his left ACL.
