If You Missed the Berks Jazz Fest, You Missed Out

Off we go to Berks Jazz Fest! We love to pamper our WHUR listeners…and have a great time in the process.

Our day began around 8 am at the station. Guests registered, quickly boarded the luxury motor coach and headed to Reading, PA. On the coach, many of us snacked, laughed, and rested up for the full day ahead.

We were welcomed to a hot lunch before we attended the first concert, “Everett Harp & Friends” Tribute to George Duke featuring Phil Perry, Chante Moore, Brian Simpson, Brian Bromberg, Rayford Griffin and Dwight Sills. They set the bar very high, a soulful, heartfelt tribute.

It’s now dinner time so we all split up to take in the sights, shop, and dine at the restaurant of our choice. Fun! Fun! Fun!

All aboard the motor coach to head to the next venue. Keyboardist and trombonist Brian Culbertson is all about the funk these days. What a great concert. We were on our feet for most of the show. Funky for sure!

But, the party’s not over. It’s time for Marcus Miller. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, producer, composer, film composer, multi instrumentalist, multi Grammy award winner and master of the bass Marcus Miller shut it down. What a day! What a night!

Shortly after midnight we arrived back to WHUR in style. With smiles on our faces and memories to last until the next big thing! Thanks to all who joined us. Until next time….
