Prince George’s Co. Police are investigating the attempted abduction of a girl

An alleged attempted abduction in Upper Marlboro last night has the community on edge today.  Police say they are looking into a report that a many tried to grab a girl last night in the 17-thousand  block of Robert Lewis Avenue. The girl was able to run away unharmed.

A tense meeting is set today for the President and leaders of the new Republican led Congress

President Obama is hosting a lunchtime meeting with congressional leaders at the White House today.  The meeting will reportedly focus on the agenda when the new Congress begins in January.  There is a bit of contention already, now that President Obama is vowing to use his executive authority if a compromise over immigration reform can not be reached.

Muriel Bowser set to unveil members of her transition team

The District of Columbia’s Mayor Elect Muriel Bowser is wasting no time in getting ready to lead the city.  Later today she will hold a news conference to unveil key members to her transition team. Bowser will take office in January.

The man accused of abducting a woman in Philadelphia has been extradited to Virginia

The man arrested in Jessup, Maryland after allegedly abducting a 22 year old woman Sunday off the streets of Philadelphia is now waking up in a Richmond, Virginia jail. Overnight 37 year old Delvin Barnes was extradited to the commonwealth after waiving his rights in court Thursday.  Barnes will stand trial for the abduction, rape and torture of a 16 year old girl in Richmond last month.  The morning police admit a GPS device placed in his vehicle by the person who sold him the car helped police track him down.  News sources also say Barnes had recently been released from jail.

Police will not charge the mother who –lied about finding a baby in her backyard.

Prince George’s County Police are not going to charge the woman who called 911 to report that she found a newborn in her backyard in Beltsville. It turns out Khiani Jackson turned out to be the infants mother.  She is now undergoing an evaluation. The baby girl who is good condition was never left outside like originally reported by Jackson.  The infant is now in the care of the Child Protective Services.
