The clock is ticking for Congress to avert a Gov’t shutdown…

Now that a Senate bill that would have defunded planned parenthood failed yesterday –lawmakers plan to take up a Bi Partisan bill to fund the government on Monday. Congress has until wed to do so, to avert another government shutdown.

The Pope is in New York…

The Pope is in New York for a number of events, he will begin with an address at the U.N. General Assembly. In the afternoon he will lead mass at Madison Square Gardens.

Our area sees a massive spike in the number of schools kids eligible for free lunch…

Over 10,000 students in our listening area are now eligible for free school lunches
compared to last year. Prince George’s County leads with over 6,000 additional students this year, followed by over 12 hundred for Montgomery County and over 2,000 for Fairfax County. Now, some schools in Montgomery County are experimenting and offering all students free breakfast.
