Metro’s Safe Track tested during rush hour….

Metro’s “Safe Track” plan during the rush hour has begun in Northern Virginia. We are getting reports of long lines and long delays. Earlier this morning Metro GM Paul Wiedfeld is advising commuters who have access to other forms of transportation to get to and from work to use it. For the next 11 days trains on the Silver and Orange lines between East Falls Church & Ballston will single track. The impact will be felt in DC & MD.

A new trial is expected to start for another officer charged in Freddie Gray’s death…

A motion hearing is set for today for Baltimore Officer Caesar Goodson. Goodson faces the most serious charge in the death of Freddie Gray. If found guilty of 2nd degree murder, the police transport driver could get 30 years in prison.

Miss DC is now Miss USA…

Miss District of Columbia Deshauna Barber is now miss USA. The 26 year old Army Officer from Fort Meade won the title over the weekend in Las Vegas. Barber is a logistics commander for the 988th Quartermaster Detachment Unit. She now has to prepare to represent the US in the Miss Universe Pageant.

Muhammad Ali is remembered…

The body of boxing great and civil rights leader Muhammad Ali has been returned to his home town of Louisville, Kentucky. On Friday a public funeral will be held. His family will hold a private service the day before.
