Tension in Ferguson, Missouri over pending grand jury decision.

A call for peace by the parents of the Ferguson, Missouri teen shot and killed by a police officer over the summer.  A grand jury is meeting to decide if the officer will face charges. Earlier this week, Governor Jay Nixon condemned past violence and said the right to peacefully protest must be protected.  He also said the National Guard will be on stand by.

Ex-Police Officer Gets Five-Year Sentence

Former District Heights police officer Johnnie Riley will serve a five-year prison term.  He was sentenced today in Prince George’s County after being convicted of shooting a handcuffed suspect in the back during a September 2012. State’s Attorney Angela Alsobrooks says Riley should have received a much harsher sentence.

Barnes Indicted On Kidnapping Charge

The Virginia man accused of abductions in Philadelphia and the Richmond area is now under indictment on a kidnapping charge.  A federal grand jury in Philadelphia today indicted 37-year-old Delvin Barnes, who could go to prison for the rest of his life if convicted.
