Metro’s GM says he will cut 500 jobs…

Metro’s General Manager Paul Wiedefeld has just released a statement that he is going to cut 500 job. Wiedefeld says the cuts are to save money in the midst of continued safety repairs and concerns.

The Justice rule to overturn Bob McDonnell is corruption conviction…

Former Governor Bob McDonnell will not have to serve a 2 year prison sentence on corruption charges. Just moments ago the U.S. Supreme Court ruled to overturn his conviction. Now the state has to decide if they will re-try him. His wife is also awaiting word on her request for an appeal.

Today is HIV testing day…

Today is National HIV testing day. The CDC says 1 in 8 Americans have HIV and don’t even know it. In DC 3% of residents have HIV. For more information or a testing site go to actagainstaids.

DC’s Mayor signs off on a bill to increase the minimum wage to $15 an hour…

The minimum wage in the District in on the way up to $15 an hour. Tonight at 6pm DC Mayor Muriel Bowser will sign off on the bill increasing the minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2020. The public event will be held at the Columbia Heights Civic Plaza.
